5 Ways Hackers Can Attack Your Phone

These days most transactions are made online which has made our lives easier. On the other hand, it has put our own lives in danger. How do you know? There is a high risk that your data may expose hackers. Hackers use many methods to steal human data. Here are some ways in which hackers can steal information and how to protect themselves from cyber theft.

1.By email

Hackers have sent you a misleading email that presses you to click on an email. The email makes you feel like you have been sent by an authorized bank asking you to fill out bank details to verify your identity. If you do not do so then your ATM card will be blocked. When you click on an email, you are redirected to the landing page. When users fill out bank details there, the information is sent directly to hackers instead of the bank.

Alternatively, the email may have an email attachment. As soon as you download, the malware installs and steals personal data from your mobile phone.

Tips: Always check the domain or spelling in the email id and if you find anything suspicious please avoid clicking on the link. Do not download the file from unreliable sources. Take your time to understand the situation.

2. Malware

Malicious software that steals data from your phone removes data from your phone, secretly monitors your device, or restores basic phone functionality. Clicking on unauthorized ads, hijackers, or installing bound software results in malicious programs.

Tips: It is recommended to use anti-virus on your phone, it is less expensive. Avoid clamor, and don't download fake software. Always keep your apps up and running.

3. Harmful Mobile Apps

Do you think every app in the Google Play Store or app store is real? Not all apps in the play store are safe to use. Apps may contain code snippets that may incorporate malware into your phone and steal data from your phone. The app is asking for various permissions and your information has been misused by distributors.

Tips: Always check permissions when downloading any new mobile app. Avoid downloading the app from any third-party apps. Never download a pirated app.

4. By telephone or text message

You can receive a call or a message that your card will be blocked or win a prize. They will ask for your online bank or OTP bank password to gain access to your account. Once it has received your information, it can be used for a variety of purposes. You can find short links to messages that can lead to unfounded web pages.

Tips: Do not share any personal information over the phone and in the message. Confirm sender details before clicking on any message. Never share OTP with any third party on the phone or in a message.

5. Free Wi-Fi

We all rejoice when we hear the word “free” and the same applies here. We get free Wi-Fi service at cafes or train stations. Connecting your system to an insecure network increases the chances of hacking. A hacker can gain access to your social media accounts, passwords, bank accounts.

Tips: Do not connect your old phone to open Wi-Fi or free Wi-Fi. Being free does not mean that it is safe. If possible, if you use public Wi-Fi then avoid bank transactions or access any sensitive information. The security of your phone is in your hands. Stay alert at all times.
